Patriotism

It's always this patriotic month of the year that we would have

The election of a committee
The brainstorming session which most of the people don't really care.
The unfinished lines and plot and the overdue script.
The 20 minutes travel from the class to the dewan.
Last minute rehearsals with unchoreographed moves.
Actors/ Actresses that are scattered everywhere in all directions but not on the stage.
Inattentive people with their heads burried in books and homeworks.
Props that are forever missing or was never there.
A tired radio playing the same old tracks repeatedly.
Actors/Actresses that wasn't paying attention and was slow by half a beat.
The despair, anger and stress of the director.
Meetings and discussions through msn or after school.
Unfinished touch ups that seem to increase by the second.

and yet
we'll miraculously manage to

Grab full attention of the whole dewan throughout the performance.
Pick up some humour and spontanuity from our leading actors and actresses.
Hear the laughter of the audience.
Actually get the whole performance done.
Earn quite a number of compliments and praises.
Have fun despite the misery of the rehearsals.

Don't know about the others but through all this I've developed this patriotism and attachment towards our class ever since our first debut, "Leftenan Adnan".
Yea, sure there is all the last minute preparations and attitude problems, but hey
It's OUR thing and I think it would be totally different without it.It makes us, US.

I was, still am , will still be a part of all this, and
I miss all of this and all of you so much.

What I did. :P

Back in Form 4 and Form 5 where Ju Vern and I would sit beside each other...
Both of us had a common hobby ( habit) of eavesdropping into other people's conversations while doing our homework.
3 8 people we are... lols
(Yes, 5Sc1 people I'm very sorry, but you all know how boring it is in class sometimes and some of you just talk LOUD)
We would be smiling ( laughing hysterically inside) to some of the conversations we hear.
Its real entertaining.
Especially Chee Kong's conversations with any of his friends. ( Well, not only particularly Chee Kong, there are others I can't remember for now)
How I missed those times.

Chinese New Year

Chinese New Year is a very memorable event to me.
Besides receiving ang pows and reunion dinner and all... I used to like Chinese New Year for another reason.

Years ago I remember dad used to get lots of hampers days before Chinese New Year. There would be trucks delivering hampers with pretty wrappings and ribbons to our house and I would be very excited. Why? Because we get to unwrap them.

It brings me a lot of joy when we sit down together and unwrap the hamper. We would have scissors and cutters to cut through the plastic and cellophane tape. Then we would remove the gifts one by one. There would be the bottle of wine, cans of soft drinks, biscuits/cookies, abalone , ginseng, mushrooms, dried oysters , sugar-coated jellies and etc. I remember 1 year we got a Crabtree and Evelyn gift box. Usually 2/3 of these goodies will be given away to friends and relatives , but I will still be very happy with the remainings.

Hampers have been cut down this few years, though. This year we only got a small one. I am quite dissapointed. But we can't help the fact that the economy is really bad now and people can't afford to spend extra. People might think its just a hamper, but this year there's this something that is missing. The gifts? Yes of course but maybe also the spirit of giving and receiving.

Anyways, HAPPY CHINESE NEW YEAR everyone!!

Mimi

I think this will be my first and maybe last post about Mimi.

This is Mimi.

Around 1 year ago, we found Mimi in a box under the Kembara. Mum heard it mewing from inside the car. She took sympathy on it ( him) and brought it home. He was our first kitten after so many years.

This is Mimi playing with us upon his first night in our house.

So adorable isn't it?

Well... Mimi really brought a major change in our life. We had an extra pet, companion, someone to talk to, someone to love. Even my dad who doesn't fancy cats started stroking it once in a while.

Mimi was a really aggresive and hyper-active cat. It would grab your hand/leg/ any biting object available and start gnawing. Thanks to that we had many battle scars on our hands and legs. My mum used to nickname it ThunderCat as well, it runs so fast!

Mimi loves the sun as well!

Well... but as Mimi started growing up... he was bored with the confined space of the kitchen... he wanted to explore the outside world.. he meowed every single second for a chance to walk outside. We gave in. Things started to change then.

Mimi started fighting with other cats. He always loses. And we will be left with his wounds to treat. " Naughty Mimi!!" we would scold, but that would not stop him. There are times where he will be hurt so badly he need to wear a "bonnet"(Thats what I call it cause it does look like one) . But still we adore him.

Mimi was a stubborn and wild cat. He wouldn't listen and he wouldn't learn from his mistakes. He kept going out for fights and each time he comes back the wounds gets more serious. The latest wound was the most serious one. A chunk of meat came off his right front leg. He limped for 1 month. My mum couldnt take it anymore. It was a neverending cycle. He would get hurt, stay at home to treat the wounds, feel better, start meowing to go out, sneak out, then get hurt again.

Decision time.
1) Leave the cat in the wild and cruel world outside.
2) Give it the injection of eternal sleep.

I couldn't believe my ears when my mum mention this. I can't afford... I can't and won't decide.
Mum decided to give it a last chance.Yesterday we let him out... see wheter he comes back safely or not. After a few hours, he did. We were so happy.. he came back safe. But at night, he made his worst mistake. He fought a fight that will bring him his death.

This morning, I had to go for class. I couldn't be by his side on the last minute. I bid Mimi goodbye before I left. This was how he look when I last left him.

Now he's gone. When I came back from classes, I saw a small grave in front of my house. His basket is empty. All that's left of him now are just memories and photos.

I'm so sorry Mimi. This is the best for everyone. We really love you. It wasn't easy. I hope you are in a better place now. Please, rest in peace.

Can't stand the tears people... sorry... think I'll stop now.
